Candle Care 101: How to Burn and Maintain Your XG & Co. Candles
Enjoy Your XG & Co. Candle Safely & Beautifully
To get the best performance from your candle and enjoy it safely, follow these essential care tips. A little maintenance goes a long way in preserving the beauty and burn of your handcrafted candle.
First Burn Matters
The first time you light your candle; let it burn until the melted wax reaches the edges of the container. This helps prevent tunneling and sets the wax memory.
Recommended first burn time: 2 to 4 hours.
Always Trim the Wick
Before each lighting, trim the wick to approximately 1/4 inch. This helps:
- Minimize soot and smoke
- Prevent mushrooming
- Promote an even, controlled flame
- Extend the life of your candle
Use a wick trimmer, scissor, or pinch carefully when the wax is cool.
Burn Time & Safety
- Do not burn your candle for more than 4 hours at a time
- Always keep candles within sight while burning
- Burn on a stable, heat-resistant surface away from drafts, pets, and children
- Discontinue use when about 1/2 inch of wax remains to prevent overheating the jar
Storage and Placement
- Store candles in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight or heat
- Cover your candle when not in use to keep the wax clean and dust-free
- Avoid placing your candle near fans, air vents, or windows
Keep the Vessel Clean
If soot appears on the jar, allow the candle to cool, then gently wipe with a soft cloth and a bit of rubbing alcohol.
